Object description

Fragment of globular bowl, vertical wedge-shaped foot. Yellow glaze. Decoration: Cross with flared arms and exterior circle in tondo: arms and outer circle incised outline, dark yellow (differing from glaze colour) with an overlaying layer of brown paint (?); background (between arms) coloured with a thick white slip; upper zones a paler yellow over slip. Friable dark red earthenware, very sandy.

Ware: Pb glaze, inc and sp dec.

Fragment av en globulär skål, vertikalt kilformad fot. Gul glasering. Dekoration: Kors med klockade armar och yttre cirkel i tondon: armar och yttercirkel har inristade konturer, mörkgul (skild från glaseringens färg) med ett överliggande lager av brun färg(?); bakgrund (mellan armarna) färgad med en tjock vit slicker; övre zonen har en blekare gul ovanför slicker. Skört mörkrött gods, mycket sandigt.; Skärva, Fustat

Study Gallery

Description: Upstairs, in interaction with the Baghdad Cafe, opened in February 2009, the upper gallery. A rich variety of objects retrieved from the museum's storerooms, many of them shown for the first time.
