Object description

Fragment of shallow hemispherical bowl, pinched rim and foot, well of base deeper than lowest vessel wall. Clear glaze, slightly fuzzy cobalt UGP. Decoration: Complex stylised vegetal motif in sharply defined angular compartments. Exterior: vegetal motif in centre of large blank field, parallel concentric circle foot exterior and in well of base. Dense (slightly friable) white almost fused stoneware.

Ware: Clear glaze cob UGP.

of larger empires such as the Persian, Roman and Ottoman.
The pharaonic culture was characterised by high conservatism.
Things were – and should be – as they always had been.
Old traditions and ways of thinking lived on, long after the last pharaohs.
They were present in the customs and traditions of the Middle Ages and are present in Egypt today.
